  • Zoom
    Pre-Separation Air Filtration System
This time-saving technology boosts the efficiency of the engine’s filter system, doubling the time between air filter cleanings. Air drawn into the engine is first separated via centrifugal force, ejecting the heavier dirt particles before being routed to the air filter. This pre-separation means less dirt to be captured by the air filter, resulting in less frequent cleaning and maintenance.

    More Information

  • Zoom
    Side-Access Chain Tensioner
The side-access chain tensioner makes it much more convenient for the user to adjust the saw chain with a bar wrench as opposed to the typical location of the guide bar adjustment screw.
  • Zoom
Toolless fuel and oil caps with retainers
Simply lift the lever and twist the caps to remove or tighten. There‘s no need to use a tool to tighten or loosen.
  • Zoom
    Decompression Valve
The decompression valve, also referred to as 'deco' or 'deco valve', vents compression in the cylinder for easier starting. The decompression valve temporarily reduces the compression in the combustion chamber during cranking and helps reduce the effort needed to pull the starter rope. It is opened manually and closes automatically as soon as the engine fires.
  • Zoom
    Anti-Vibration System
STIHL has developed a system for minimizing the vibration levels of handheld outdoor power equipment. The STIHL anti-vibration system helps reduce operator fatigue and provides a more comfortable working experience.

Important Information
WARNING! The occurrence called “kickback” can cause serious or fatal injury. Always read the instruction manual carefully before using your saw. STIHL uses a green and yellow color-coding system to help you select a powerhead, bar and chain combination that complies with the kickback requirements of ANSI Standard B175.1 (gasoline-powered saws) and §30 of UL 1662/ ANSI Standard B175.1 (electric chainsaws). Ask your STIHL dealer about safe operating procedures and the advantages of the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake, STIHL Quickstop® Plus (Q) additional chain braking feature, STIHL reduced kickback bars and STIHL low-kickback saw chains.

STIHL recommends the use of green reduced kickback bars and green low kickback chains on all STIHL chainsaws.
* The actual listed guide bar length can vary from the effective cutting length based on which powerhead it is installed on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from MS 362C All it is advertised to be I heat my home with wood therefore I burn around 20 cords of wood a winter. I purchased a 390 used from a friend they purchased it new in 2006. The 390 has been maintained and is in good working condition. I depend on my chainsaws to do their job. I feared that if something would break on the 390 I'd really be in trouble therefore I purchased a new 362C. I'm writing this review in early Spring and have already cut about 10 cords with the 362 WOW unbelievable, lighter, faster, quieter, doesn't buck like the 390. My 390 is not ready for retirement but the advancements made in 12 years is noticeable. I've passed 30 years of age a long time ago anything I can do to save time, wear and tear on my body is worth it. I only gave a 4 star rating because of 1 gripe and that is the gas tank size. I haven't done a comparison between the tank size on the 362 vs 390 but it seems like I need to stop and fill up with gas more often.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Saw I've Ever Owned This saw is an absolute beast. I use mine with a 20" bar and it cuts through everything like butter. It's not too heavy and is manageable for sawing for long periods of time. I never feel any vibrations when using it because it is so smooth. It starts up every time very easily. I haven't had one issue with the saw and have really enjoyed using it. Clean your saws after each use and they'll run forever.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor design on air filter/cleaner Very poor design on air filter suck in dust then burns up motor. Stihl rebuilt it but would not put on new carb with redesigned filter. Hard to get somebody to talk to or help with the problem in wisconsin

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This saw is a lemon I have been using my 362-C consistently for 6 months. I have put a fair amount of hours on my home saw and every time it gets hot, it fails. This is the first Stihl that has given me problems, I have used 044, 440, 029, models before and never had any issues. I have taken it to 3 people with no luck of a fix for the machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old School Saw Great saw without the modern computer chip technology. Being an old school kind of guy, this was important to me.Starts on the 2nd or 3rd pull when cold and on the first pull when warmed up.Very powerful. I am not a commercial logger but like having the power of an industrial grade saw. I would recommend this saw to anyone who has experience with saws and needs that extra power, when the job calls for it.Not recommended for inexperienced users.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Saw I've had in 30 years Maybe, I just got a bad one but my 362 has been awful, 3 ignition coils, and just constantly hard to start since new, very unreliable

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very reliable saw! After burning down three of the other orange brand saws in a year and a half I bought my first stihl. I have owned the ms362 now for 5 going on six years. The saw is used weekly on the farm and we cut an average of 20 cords a year. Three bars and countless chains later and the powerhead is yet to give us any problems. I'm sold on the stihl brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome I'm an pro logger have had my 362 now for 5 years plus. Saw has no problem running a 25" bar. Took down 72" elm tree with a little finesse, if ya know what I mean. Have fuel usage down to 3 tank full net 1 face cord.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you want to own only one saw, this is the one. I cut wood for my heat and sell some as well. This was my first Pro Saw, I have a 241 now as well. I had a farm boss that lasted a few years at 20+ cords a year. With my Farm Boss down I needed a new felling and bucking saw. Drove to the local dealer and asked to see a new Farm Boss. He told me about the 291 but said with as much as I cut a 362 may be even better. I went ahead and got the 362 with a 20" bar and had him swap out the green chain for a yellow one. I got a pack of the synthetic oil even though I had it already because it will double your warranty from one year to two years. After about the third tank this beast woke up and kept getting better until tank five or six. This thing smokes my old Farm Boss. I was so impressed with the difference between pro saws and homeowner or ranch saws that I called them up and told them to order me a 241 with a 14" bar and full chisel yellow chain. It is sweet as well. My friend that helps me cut thought he could get the best of both worlds with a 261. He went and bought a 362 the next day and his 261 is now his limbing saw....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good saw I have been using a Poulan Pro 415 for over 20 years and got the 362 for Christmas. The first run was..interesting. It seemed to be finding itself. Plus, I was cutting some trees on a bank. Second time out was better, about the same power as the PP415. Third time out, I didn't want to put it down. I'm on the third tank of fuel now, and this saw has some major power. I am not a lumberjack, just a normal homeowner that has a wood burning fireplace. I want things to work and work well when I use them. From my experience with weedeaters and leaf blowers, Stihl produces that kind of equipment. So far, I am more than pleased with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This saw means business I'm in the firewood business, in Alaska. This saw means business. I taught my then 14 year old son on an 031 and bought him the 362 on his 16th birthday and can't get it out of his hands. Looks like I'll have to go and get one for myself as he won't let me use his LOL. He loves the saw and its performance. I'd recommend this saw to anyone looking for a powerful, and not to heavy, pro saw.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from All good for the most part. For medium wood, this is a good saw. Especially if that wood happens to be clean and wet. It will slow down in hard, aged material and in my opinion ought not to be used in dirty cutting conditions. The air filter on this saw has more in common with what you see on a 290 or smaller saw than it does with those on 70cc+ saws. it tends to let some junk through cause its not a heavy duty filter-even though you KNOW this saw us definitely suckin a pretty good volume of air. Seems like a mismatch of parts to me, but I can't say I've had any problems with the saw in the 3 years I've had it. I just wonder about its longevity every time I peek behind the filter and see a thick film of wood fines all over the carburetor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the only saw I need I have had my saw for two years now with no problems whatsoever. The saw has plenty of power to run a 20" bar comfortably, and 25" if you need it. This saw pulls the 25" bar and chain through large oak trees no problem. For someone who heats with firewood in my area, this saw is the perfect saw. I do not even own any smaller or larger saws, this saw is the saw that anyone should pick if they were only to have one, as I do. From small diameter trees and limbing, to felling and bucking 36" diameter trees, this saw gets it done.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BUY IT! I cut wood for three wood stoves and a outdoor boiler. I run a 20" bar most of the time but have the 25" for bigger jobs. it handles ether bar with no problem. Oak, cherry, ash, it doesn't care. by far the best big saw I have bought. I have a MS 260 for my small saw and it is hard to make up my mind which on I want to run first. love them both.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Saw is perfect for large or small jobs I purchased my MS362 3 years ago for clearing several acres of land and it performed excelent on large trees with a 28" bar and on small jobs with a 16" bar.I would recommend this saw to everyone. Absolutely love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerhouse of a chainsaw Over the years i have many different styles, models, and manufacturers chainsaws. My Stihl chainsaws have been there when i needed them. Always up to the task at hand, and kept on cutting wood when the others would give up. I will always have a stihl chainsaw available and will continue to purchase stihl saws. The Stihl company has gained a customer for a life time. I wish i hadnt of wasted my money on the other guys stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to start fast in the cut Bought my stihl MS362 3 months ago replacing an 041. This new sthil starts easy with minimum effort and it cuts like a demon. I have the 25" bar making quick work on several 50" oaks both red and white. The dealer was outstanding in the review of the saw and explaining the new features. I cannot praise this saw enough, fast in the cut easy start ample power wonderful features. My 041 served me for 30 years of firewood cutting, I heat entirely with wood and also keep my parents supplied for their fireplace and 2 stoves. I feel this saw is better then my 041 and that says alot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw for all around cutting I upgraded to this saw from my MS311. This saw is the same weight, but has substantially more power. I like the dual element air filter, I can be confident that the engine is breathing clean air. I have a 16, 20 and 25" bar and cut everything from Pine to Osage Orange. As long as the chain is sharp this saw will cut everything you throw at it. It does use more fuel than the 311 did, but it also gets the job done a lot faster. My only complaint is that it is sometimes hard to start, but all of my Stihl equipment takes a few pulls before it fires.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly recommended saw After purchasing this I ran it for the first time the very next day for 7 hours straight minus time to refuel and add oil. Runs strong, and smooth. Vibration is no more and maybe less than my 026 Pro. Much lighter than the 041 Farm Boss that it replaced. Sips fuel compared to the Farm Boss. Weight was not even close to being an issue. Thanks Uncle Jacks Saw Shop in Stedman, NY for reccomending this saw. I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stihl MS362 PRO Series Chain Saw Large & Heavy, but that is what you would expect with a saw that has almost 5 Horsepower! Comes with 16, 18, 20, or 25" bars. The dealer said that after 5 tanks of gas is run through it, it will be broken-in with a noticable increase in power. I have put 2 tanks through mine & it seems to run fine. The Decompression valve makes it much easier to start then the Farm Boss model. This is the lowest priced model that has the Decompression valve. Only issue, which can be common with Stihl products, its easy to flood when trying to start.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great multipurpose firewood saw i decided to buy a stihl 362 after running plenty of my friends husqvarna and stihl 50 and 70cc saws. i owned a 455 and wanted more power in a simular weight package. i found this saw to have a great power to weight ratio and to be a good do-it-all saw. With the right bars and chains this saw will take care of the needs of both power classes, mine runs great with a 25" full chisel and a 18" semi chisel.
